In seeking “common ground” the ultra-asshole Louis “peckerhead” Midgley attacks fellow faithful Mormon Sledge when he made some rather innocuous comment about LDS treatment of Black people with this non confrontational post:

Notice how he uses his typical tactics of turning the user’s handle into an insult, sets ups a straw man, and then openly agitates the user hoping to induce an impatient reaction. GEE, I CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY SOMEONE WHO WAS STALKED HALF A WORLD AWAY DIDN’T WANT TO MEET HIM IF THIS IS HOW HE TREATS HIS OWN KIND.

Midgley might be thinking about the Church's general missionary tactic of finding and building upon common beliefs with investigators. Let's not confuse sincerely "seeking" common ground, however, with a tactic of using a pretense of "seeking common ground" as just a way to better advance one's plan for unilateral dominance.

But, further, let's not confuse any tactic the Mopologists such as Migdely have ever used, with either truly seeking common ground, or using the tactic of "seeking common ground," if only as a pretense to better advance a plan for dominance. The apologists are so confrontational that they don't even know when to be nice temporarily in order to advance their agenda.

You know that secular Russian Jew Midgley always speaks of as his friend, and contrasts with people like Gemli? I'll bet you that guy is the type who genuinely seeks common ground with people. I would bet my last dollar, that the two of them are friends because the Russian Jew was respectful to Midgley first, is a good listener, and knows how to brush off an outburst or two and carefully advance a disagreement. It's not because Midgely was first polite and diplomatic with the Russian Jew.

I’m tired of hearing people like Midgley, and Peterson back track and telling the story on how they “longed for a change” when in fact they are just expressing their racism or passive cowardice first with not speaking up at the time, and now by trying to cover their guilt with platitudes, and still not saying how wrong it originally was.

It's definitely disingenuous, how they now imply how they probably felt back then. My guess is they probably felt some relief in not being viewed as so overtly racist by the public any longer. But longing in the sense of correcting a wrong? No, they probably didn't even know any African Americans and certainly didn't view the racial ban as wrong. It was supposedly what God wanted and they never want to change God's mind now and certainly didn't back then. Wanting or longing the brethren to change is against what the brethren push the members to do. They want unwavering obedience and so longing for change isn't in the cards.

Welp. Yet another object lesson why Dr. Colvin was wise to avoid direct contact with Louis “gadfly” Midgley. Midge states something about someone here:
