The Ecuadorian Embassy invited British Police into their embassy to remove Assange, where he had been a guest for 7 years. Assange was technically arrested on jumping bail on the Swedish rape charges. Wikileaks evidently knew something was up, they had been predicting Assange's arrest for about a week.
The U.S. has a sealed indictment filed in March. If and when he is extradited to the United States, there is the matter of Chelsea Manning, but also obviously the Clinton/Podesta email dumps.
