Exact match tests have a very high error rate and are preferred by Republicans because they systematically hit Democratic voters harder, which is the basis for legal challenges to them. The neat thing is even if the courts say this was illegal, if they do so after the election, courts never overturn the outcome of an election so it doesn't matter.


If this were a story about a foreign country, we'd chortle about their quote-unquote "democracy" and our domestic press would cover the process as a sham by a ruling regime.
