Trump Appoints his Doc to head VA

Post by _moksha »

For all the chaos of the past 14 months, one of the few constants in the West Wing has been Donald Trump’s flair for appointing Cabinet members who are not just wildly unqualified for their jobs, but in fact uniquely ill-equipped to do anything but dismantle the agencies they’ve been tasked with leading.

“Nobody in the White House that Jonathan Swan has spoken to can satisfactorily answer the question of how his personal White House physician is qualified to run the second-largest agency in the federal government, and one of the most consequential and dysfunctional institutions in America,” reported Axios. The best anyone in the White House can come up with is that Trump thinks he’s “great” because the doc told the world, with a straight face, that the president has “incredibly good genes” and “if he had a healthier diet over the last 20 years, he might live to be 200 years old.”

Reminds me of the time that Papa Doc Duvalier appointed his horse as the Minister of Transportation. At least the horse had some pull.

People invariably say that Ronny Jackson is a very nice man and a very good doctor. But running the second largest government agency without any management experience? Trump says he always hires 'the best people'. So the man responsible to 20 million veterans just happened to be the President's personal physician? Doesn't sound like an extensive job search was involved.

In Trumpworld if you are loyal to the President, all things are possible. Loyalty confers upon you all the skills necessary to take on the task, no matter how unqualified you are. And that is what the United States Government is slowly becoming: a reflection of the shrinking circle of people loyal to Donald Trump.
