Check that: 1,494 points... wtf?

Basically two months of gains were erased in two days, and we still have an hour or so left.

The fun part will be watching FOX News try to blame Obama for this.

Maybe they are beginning to realize the flaws in their dream of a two-class society.

And Hannity has been giving Trump credit for the low unemployment rate.

While the market is up over 500 today, I think you are going to see a lot of market volatility this year. Markets hate uncertainty. Combine that with the reduction in regulations, and the huge drop in the corporate tax rate and you have a lot of money right now that is unsettled.

The drop in the corporate tax rate should mean good things for the economy, but it comes with a couple of perils. The government is currently expected to borrow eighty-four percent more this year than last. In addition, as the unemployment rate drops, the Federal Reserve starts think about tightening the money supply to cool off the economy, creating additional uncertainty.

And beyond that, you have uncertainty about trade agreements and trade relationships. Will the 'America First' movement ultimately reduce American access to foreign markets? How does this effect short and long term expansion strategies?

Political prognostication adds a whole other level of uncertainty. Will we ever pass a budget or are we permanently living in Continuing Resolution Hell? Will Donald Trump be impeached or indicted? Will the Democrats control the House/and/or/Senate after the midterms? And will Young Arrogant Fat Man get along with Old Arrogant Fat Man this year, or will the kimchi hit the fan?

All of this just makes me think that this is going to be a big year for market volatility.

For those more financially savvy than I -- now would be a good time to move some holdings over to bank stocks, and other entities that rely on market volatility for trading income, no?

Don't Believe The Hype

Quote:
(From 2013) Despite all the celebration, the Dow Jones industrial average has not hit record highs recently. If you adjust for inflation, the highs just aren't as high as they seem.

And even if it does hit a real, inflation-adjusted high in the next few weeks, it won't mean much. The Dow is a seriously flawed stock index, and it's certainly not a good way to measure what's going on in the overall economy.

On today's show, we rain on the Dow's parade and explain why a lot of very smart people say we should ignore the Dow.

Who will have to pay the trillions of dollars owed? How much interest?

Interest paid is roughly $250-300 billion every year.

Remember when the black guy was in office, the debt was all Republicans pretended to care about.
