read "A Canticle for Leibowitz" by Walter M. Miller .!

... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Canticl ... ot_summary ...

Set in a Catholic monastery in the desert of the Southwestern United States after a devastating nuclear war, the story spans thousands of years as civilization rebuilds itself.
Church versus state
The third part, "Fiat Voluntas Tua", includes a debate between future Church and state stances on abortion and euthanasia, a thematic issue representative of the larger conflict between Church and state.
Literary critic Edward Ducharme claimed that "Miller's narrative continually returns to the conflicts between the scientist's search for truth and the state's power."

it is worth to read... (blixa only, maybe ?)
Choyo Chagas is Chairman of the Big Four, the ruler of the planet from "The Bull's Hour" ( Russian: Час Быка), a social science fiction novel written by Soviet author and paleontologist Ivan Yefremov in 1968.
Six months after its publication Soviet authorities banned the book and attempted to remove it from libraries and bookshops.

Yes we would win in an all out nuclear war, but it would be ashes in our mouths.

You can line up the motives for Trump's military threats and they all seem counterproductive:

1) Trump is trying to threaten NK into diplomatic resolution - Counterproductive
2) Trump is adopting a "madman" strategy of nuclear deterrence - Counterproductive
3) Trump is genuinely signaling military action is imminent - Counterproductive
4) Trump is trying to goad NK into a first strike so the US can appear to act in self defense - Counterproductive
5) Trump is trying to resuscitate poor polling by distracting from other unfavorable news cycles - Counterproductive

The best explanation, Trump's razor if you will, is just that he's an impulsive idiot. It explains most things well. But that's the very trait that could land us in a real nuclear war.
