In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

  Nice, Doc.

I recently had a slightly uncomfortable conversation with my 18-year-old son about the definition of a "hook-up" across our generations. In my opinion, a "full hook-up" definitely requires a tent, so I hope you were able to at least consider defiling that Shady Acres venue in a similar manner!!!!!!

I understood every word they were saying...even without the subtitles. What does that mean, eh?

Couple of notes on the trip preparation. May be of help to someone else in their travels.

Dual Voltage Features:

All my electronics/appliances have dual voltage features: iPhone charging cord and flat iron. Hair dryer has it as well, not bringing that. I charge my Fire with the phone charging cord. I'm assuming that'll work and if not, then I fry it. Not worried about it.

Converters: If your electronics have dual voltage you don't need a converter. Converters can be purchased on Amazon.

Voltage Adapters: They simply plug on to your plug to change the configuration or shape of the plug to whatever country you're visiting. These can be purchases on Amazon, in Target, even Walmart has them.

Portable charger: Kevin Graham recommended this by Anker.

Notice it says it has Qualcomm. This makes it charge quicker.

Android phones can have Qualcomm capability. iPhones have Intel (whatever it's called). So I settled on this. Doesn't charge as fast as Qualcomm, but close.

by the way, when we lived in Europe the converters we had were bigger than a shoe box.

Let us take a moment from the mundane details of health, fitness and travel to ask ourselves, "Why would anyone go to Scotland?" Well, there are many reasons. Here's one.

I seem to be running into all the toxic pockets* on the board today so of course I decided to seek shelter on this happy little thread of ours. Let's talk (talking to myself here) random updates on whatever.

Weight. Screw weight. I keep shoving back and forth the same 2 pounds. Hoping to shove it over the edge completely. Goals.

Exercise. What exercise? Okay, I've been swimming. I won't say how often so everyone can go "Oh that Jersey she's really got it together! She always gets back on that horse! Never gives up!" And leave you all to your delusions.

*Doesn't that sound like a processed food item?

Travel: Home stretch! I have one more arrangement to make (sign on for international health coverage), download a couple or three apps for ground transportation and then...I'm DONE! Yay for me! \O/ \O/ \O/

So weird thing about our phone service international plan. There's two kinds. I chose one with a daily cap on it only because it made sense to me. Apparently, this international plan allows you to use your phone like you do stateside. Sounds good, right? The only thing is that it doesn't cover the calls you make IN the country you're traveling to. :surprised:

So, if I wanted to make a call to, I dunno. Meghan Markle. From the hotel across the street from Kensington Palace. I'd be charged for a long distance international call. Because even though you have an international phone plan and are in the UK, for all intents and purposes...you're still in the States.

Hopefully, that makes some kind of sense. Anyway, so...if you find yourself needing to make frequent local calls while you're there, there's an app you can sign up for for 5$ that makes that happen.

But to reinforce what I just said. Even if you're there. You're not there. You're still in the States.

Random...

Passport: They're VERY tiny now! If you need a passport, you're not allowed to smile for the pic but don't worry about it. There's a raised stamp over your face--works like camouflage.

Anti-Theft Purse: My travel buddy refers to this as the "James Bond" purse. It's got locks all over it, RFID blocking inside and it's slash proof. The only downside is if a Glasgow gang member really wants to get me, he can just drag me by the purse around my neck to the nearest alley, chop me to pieces, throw me in a dumpster and make off with the purse and it's contents.

Travel Pillow: I have a travel neck pillow. I also picked up another pillow for sleeping on the plane at...Pottery Barn. I kid you not. I ended up with tiny lumbar down filled pillow. Just what I wanted! :-)

Sweater and Socks: I spent an obscene amount of money on these mainly for on the flight. I only mention them because they're so soft and cozy, and I puffy <3 them.

Last two items are sleep insurance for the long flight. I totally go into ritual mode to sleep on a plane. Sleep mask, comfy socks, warm cover of some sort, pull a hood over my head, put a Potter in my ear and I'm gone. The sleep mask alone sends the message: Don't even look like you're going to talk to me! If I could drug myself to sleep on this flight I would. But I don't think that's possible for me*, thus all the comfy little details I've collected.

So totally psyched about this trip I cannot tell you!

:-)

*I'll ask the cardio about sleep meds next week. I had to get my heart shocked last weekend so there's a follow up. Not to worry. I'm totally fine.
