Trump meeting with family members of the military to find out their concerns and how they can be helped.
This is what being a leader who get's things done looks like. You find out the problems, you discuss solutions, and then hopefully when elected you work to fix the problems.

Trump claims to know more than the generals on how to conduct war.

Obama does this all the time, as has every other sitting President in recent times. Trump isn't special for doing this. He's just starting to get his feet wet.

Yes, but I suspect that Obama is the only President who didn't know how to pronounce corpsman.

That's okay with me. I didn't know how to pronounce his name when he ran for President.

It's what he does. Luckily, Jesus died for his turds so he doesn't have to be accountable.

There’s no need for vocabulary condemnation to be insticated. A simple misunderestimation of the word could be at play. Besides, choosing how to say words is an uninalienable right. Sometimes, saying a word incorrectly can be subliminabable. What matters is if the message resignates with people. I can’t imagine there was any malfeance involved. It might have just been an ingrinable part of his upbringing. His other achievements shouldn’t be disregardered, or seen as an impedent to leadership.

This is how irrational the GOP hate for Obama is. They will say idiotic things like this about him completely ignoring their last president was easily the worst president of our lifetime. The only thing that could help Bush's legacy would be electing Drumpf.

by the way Steuss, great post.

How do you think it made the corpsman feel to know that the president didn't care enough to find out how to pronounce their rank. We heard for months in 1992 when VP Quayle corrected potato to an obsolete spelling of it (potatoe). I can imagine days of ridicule if Bush had mispronounced corpsman multiple times to a military audience. But Obama is above mockery because he's a leftist.

No doubt it deeply hurt their feelings, and they returned to their bunks with tears streaming down their cheeks, wondering how on earth they would continue on in their service knowing that the president didn't care enough to find out how to pronounce their rank.

To this day, it is likely a leading cause for veteran suicides amongst corpsmen, and to this day is a talking point amongst activists who hope to create "safe spaces" for our military members. Especially for those who have had to suffer the horrors of having their names mispronounced by those in leadership positions.

Mockery aside, they probably went back and said the president doesn't give a hoot about us. He didn't even care enough to find out how to pronounce our rank.

Or they probably went back, hoping they wouldn't be picked to sit through the next stuffy affair like that.

Or, maybe you're right, and they were wounded, thinking the president didn't care about them. Yeah, that's probably right. Those poor, sensitive corpsmen.

In the military, a person's rank is important. We were assigned a sergeant for my two day trip in July giving talks to the military. He bristled when my partner used his first name without his rank.

Ten years ago my company was being sold by our parent company. We had a meeting of all employees in which this was announced. The chairman of the company mispronounced the CFO's name in the meeting. There was muttering about that afterwards.

In all seriousness, it was a silly and stupid gaff; especially for someone of his position with his education.

That being said, I really (really, really) have a hard time believing that the men and women felt anything beyond mild amusement for the mispronunciation. You have likely had more dealings with higher ranked individuals than I. The only moderately ranked person I know is a Full Colonel. He has the same last name as me, so I know that it is mispronounced 99% of the time. To him (like most of my family) it's funny when you hear some of the more creative ways our name is said.

To him, it's humorous. Perhaps he is an armed forces anomaly in not being emotionally delicate.

If a Democrat does it, no offence is too small.

If a Republican does it, no offence is too big.

For the party of personal responsibility, they sure ____ whine a lot.

I think you're the only one I've seen mew about it. The vast majority probably didn't hear about, and of those that did they probably gave less than two deuces, brother.
