Wonder if BYU might agree to shut its doors forever rather than tolerate an openly gay faculty member?

You can bet your ass that there are gay faculty members working at BYU. They just aren't out, yet. But it's coming.

If you want to know one of the real reasons the Church is hoarding money you need to read their amicus brief they just filed:

https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/ ... ersion.pdf

“Many religious organizations lack the financial and institutional fortitude to weather such battles of attrition.“

It’s a battle chest.

The rest of the document basically states the Church needs to discriminate because That’s What Jesus Would Do.

Exactly. They're ass holes just like their God is. Amazing that it offends them when you point that two pronged stick at them..... Jehovah is the singular worse kind of deity ever invented. That they love to put Jesus into Jehovah as the same person is the most damning indictment of him in all literature, and no one of them blind idiots sees it.

The LDS church was part of a group of 'religious amici' that filed the brief Doctor CamNC4Me links to above. One of the primary authoring law firmst is Kirton & McConkie. It is claimed on page 2 that "These beliefs about marriage are inextricably intertwined with amici’s beliefs and practices regarding sexuality and gender and are foundational to their faith." The beliefs about marriage mentioned in the preceding paragraph are that (1) it is a sacred union of a man and a woman, and (2) same-sex marriage should not be condoned. Are such beliefs about marriage "and practices regarding sexuality and gender" really "foundational to their faith?"
"There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." Seems like it was entirely the product of Kirton McConkie. The list of religious organizations willing to sign on to the lastest brief had greatly dwindled. Perhaps these religious groups no longer wish to be associated with a losing cause, or perhaps former signees have had new light and wisdom enter their world and felt the inspiration to refrain.

The diehard Mormon homophobes want to enforce their brand of morality over everyone else.

This evil endeavor will surely fail. Mormonism is out of step with the evolution and shift the world is taking. Mormonism is being left behind to wallow in the mire.

The Church has pretty much been on the wrong side of everything since day one.
