Another goodie from General Conference April 1914 to show how the Mormons officially resisted valid criticism of the papyrus translation of the so-called Book of Abraham:

President Seymour B. Young (Of the First Council of Seventy) wrote:The Book of Abraham was translated by Joseph Smith, the Seer, from ancient records that were found in the catacombs of Egypt entitled, "The writings of Abraham while he was in Egypt." This is a quotation from the record called The Book of Abraham, written by his own hand, upon papyrus. Although, recently, a minister of a Christian Church has presumed to criticize adversely, especially this Book of Abraham, his efforts have only induced a more careful, perusal and more thorough study of this valuable work, which has brought in increase of testimony of its divinity to the mind and heart of every true Latter-day Saint. Let me say here that the statements of the critics, consisting of professed scientific Egyptologists has done this minister no credit, as they have not agreed, but have rendered diverse and contradictory opinions as to the interpretation of the picture plates published in connection with the Book of Abraham, by the prophet Joseph Smith.

Here we see that ignorant Mormons residing in the tabernacle were told that criticism of Smith's interpretations of the "picture plates" (Facsimiles) were of no consequence because the Egyptologists of the day were not in full agreement. But today, Egyptologists are in full agreement in criticizing Joseph Smith's false translations and are able to give us the correct meanings.

Stupid Mormons.

General Conference April 1917 declares that the Book of Abraham needs no apologetics.

Elder Orson F. Whitney wrote:The Book of Abraham needs no defense. It speaks for itself. It manifests its own divinity; for no one but God could have delivered such splendid teachings in such a majestic and sublime spirit as this book contains.

There you have it, folks. The Book of Abraham doesn't need apologists. It speaks for itself. The Explanations of Facsimile No. 2 are heavenly words given by Mormon man-god through his Egyptian translator, Joseph Smith.

Wow. Just wow. Stupid Mormons.
