Sponsored content has recently been showing up on the internet as "Promoted by The Church of Jesus Christ". Not mentioned: "of Latter Day Saints", or "Mormon".

This time around the paid advertisement, posing as answers to questions from readers, offers to send free copies of the Bible, as well as free copies of the Book of Mormon, depending on which "answer" the reader ends up viewing.

Has the CoJCoLDS fallen into such disrepute that a major re-branding campaign is in order? Sure looks like it. No more Mormon. No more LDS. Now its just Church of Jesus Christ.

It's sort of amusing that the domain name under which all this "not Mormon" propaganda is posted is http://www.Mormon.org.

Nelson is causing irreversible damage within the Mormon institution that will no doubt spawn division and fracture the mindset of Mormonism as a whole. These moves he's making are reckless and without much forethought for the feelings and thoughts of so many Mormons that cherish the name "Mormon" which can't be separated from the name of this religion regardless of the personal nitpicky demands of the current prophet who will be six feet under ground very shortly. Once Nelson is laid to rest the next church president can decide how to go from here. What a sorry mess.

You know, suppose for a second that the church really was true and the God of Mormonism was supreme in all its telling. Well so what. What kind of God is that hung up on the name of his earthly institution? It's just insane. An Almighty powerful and loving Being who rules the universe is hung up on the name of his church on little ole planet earth. That's what you can't make up! My God. I know more than ever that Mormonism is untrue. My testimony of that fact has grown all the more during this recent fiasco. Nelson has increased my testimony of the false nature of the Mormon church.

The Church of Jesus Christ is a Christian religious denomination headquartered in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, United States. The Church of Jesus Christ is a Restorationist church and is historically part of the Latter Day Saint movement.

It has sometimes been referred to as a "Bickertonite church" or "Rigdonite organization" based upon the church's historical succession through William Bickerton and Sidney Rigdon.

One can only hope this legal entity files suit against L-d$,inc over using their name.

Thanks for writing this. Good information. Couldn't imagine that there was not a Church out there already with that name. They really should be taken to task.

All one need do is go to the Quora website, find one of the many deceptive LDS Church ads and write either a response or a comment.

Let's face it, folks, the Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses are always going to be the weirdos on the Christian block seeing they both have a very strange kind of Jesus. Mormon jesus and Jehovah Witness jesus are quite the pair -- they deserve each other and as far as Christians at large are concerned they are stuck together.
