Church is Using the Same Misinformation Playbook

...they used against marriage equality again against Utah’s Prop 2 Medical marijuana Proposal.

The church commissioned Kirton McKonkie to prepare a legal analysis of the proposed prop 2. It is filled with lies, distotortions and misinformation.

Example: kirton mckonkie claims that if passed, prop 2 will allow anyone with a medical marijuana card to grow their on plants. Not True and a complete distortion of the proposal and these liars know it. Prop 2 does have the poison pill provision allowing home grown weed for anyone with a MM card if there is not a dispensary within 100 miles. However make dispensaries available and No one can home grow. This was specifically put in to force the state to make the legal weed available. The writers of the bill are well aware that in other states where similar bills have been passed by the people, the states failed to make the marijuana available even though it was now legal within the state. This provion in prop 2 is specifically in the law to force the state into compliance and to force their hand and not so card holders can grow marijuana at home. The churches claim to the otherwise is a complete distortion of the law.

I could go on but it’s distortions like this and the churches continued use of lies and misinformation that discusts me. They did the same thing with their failed attempts to torpedo California’s marriage equality laws.

The church has every right to speak out against prop 2... but to use lies, distortions and misinformation is beyond the pale for a church that claims some kind of moral authority. But then why should I be surprised knowing they’ve lied and whitewashed their own history for years.
