Some book or other from some sorta journalist or other that says Darwin was been refuted, and has outlived its usefulness. Dr. Peterson says he wants serious discussion from only those who HAVE read the book, and is WILLING to engage IT, not using some review or other imagining ourselves as quaint experts and dismissing this review of Darwin on religious grounds. Gee, would that he would do that with Ritner on the Book of Abraham eh?

Sooooo, have any of you read this particular book Peterson mentions? I haven't, but I might. Right now I am swamped with learning how to watercolor paint and am thoroughly and hedonistically enjoying my life, and getting on with an item on my bucket list. And I am told I am gettin decent, and I have only painted 4 paintings thus far! Come check me out on Instagram...

I started watercolor painting last year! I suck at it.

What if we're not on Instagram? Can you send me examples of your work some other way? Like, you know, some other way? I want to see them.

It seems that he's resurrecting all the old gambits. And, in actuality, he *does not* want anyone to read the book. Down in the comments, one poster claimed to have read it, at which point DCP immediately declared that he was too busy to have a discussion about it. Honestly, I sincerely doubt that DCP read the book himself. Maybe he read the first few pages that are shown to you for free on Amazon, but as was demonstrated in--IIRC--one of the plagiarism threads, he often tends to quote from just the first few pages of any given book--like he reads the first dozen pages, skims the rest, and then calls it a day.

The foremost Mormon scholar, Dr. Peterson, debating some secular scholar over evolutionary evidence before an audience that could end up as a TED talk (and perhaps something for Alex Jones to quote as proof for some nutritional supplement he is plugging) would be interesting.

Wonder how the audience would react when Dr. Peterson suggests that fossil evidence was planted by the Adversary? Might be best to have this recorded in the Gunnison 2nd Ward multi-cultural hall.

I'm sure if Dr. W read this book by a "journalist" (not a scientist) and reviewed it here, he wouldn't read the review.

Just to hear what he wants to hear.

That's an excellent point, Dean Robbers. I have been aghast at times at the way that Dr. Peterson has treated Dr. W. Sometimes I think that the Mopologists should come with a disclaimer: "If you are a scientist or academic who says anything negative about Mormonism, we will collectively target you with a bullying / smear / invective campaign, and we'll do everything in our power to silence you, discredit you, and personally wound you."

The glare ruined it. I'll take a better photo when I finish it. But thank you, I dig Marvel.

I'm doing two oil paintings also, one of the Kennedy Brothers which is coming along nicely.

Looney Tunes was the freaking ____! They've ruined them now. Those guys knew how to draw and Mel Blanc was a genius. That kind of starry alignment doesn't come along often. I got my artistic chops by tracing Marvel Comics on my window when I was a wee lad. And then there were the Looney Tunes. Daffy and Bugs are my absolute favs, but the early, early stuff.

Jersey,

I haven't painted anything in eight years. I broke my back and it was too painful cause I like to stand and paint on an easel or the wall. (I sit now-no more swinging hips while I paint  ). But it took a long time to get reinterested in painting, don't know why. I just prepped a five foot by five foot canvas for a mural of some Walking Dead characters. Got it all drawn, gonna do it in acrylics. We'll see, I'll have to stand for that one. I'm glad I can share with my friends here. Thank you all for putting up with me.

And it turns out the poster who claimed to read it was quoting, without attribution, a review from Amazon. Commenters tiptoed around it, loathe to call it plagiarism I suspect because of Peterson's propensities in that direction. One commenter finally wrote:
Quote:
I understand that sometimes we make mistakes in attribution, but to refuse to acknowledge mistakes like that and then to repeat the mistake in different ways over and over again is poor form in my book.

O the irony.
