I stumbled across this, it does not have a date but it appears to be about 5 years old.
However, despite its increasing numbers, the Church cautions against overemphasis on growth statistics. The Church makes no statistical comparisons with other churches and makes no claim to be the fastest-growing Christian denomination church despite frequent news media comments to that effect. Such comparisons rarely take account of a multiplicity of complex factors, including activity rates and death rates, the methodology used in registering or counting members and what factors constitute membership. Growth rates also vary significantly across the world. Additionally, many other factors contribute to the strength of the Church, most especially the devotion and commitment of its members.
This may not be a big deal, but it sure struck me as a memo the membership did not get.
Don't take life so seriously in that " sooner or later we are just old men in funny clothes" "Tom 'T-Bone' Wolk"

That’s quite an interesting admission, that Church growth rates don’t properly take into account deaths.
Who was Monson trying to kid when he said...
We are gathered together as a great family, more than 15 million strong...
“When we are confronted with evidence that challenges our deeply held beliefs we are more likely to reframe the evidence than we are to alter our beliefs. We simply invent new reasons, new justifications, new explanations. Sometimes we ignore the evidence altogether.” (Mathew Syed 'Black Box Thinking')
There's no doubt the past few years the Church has caught on and is trying to change the message around growth, although the changing that message has been hard to do. They want the message to suggest theChurch is strongerthan ever before. But also wants to say that actual growth isn't important so much as members, I guess, on an individual level are stronger than they used to be, or converts are better than they used to be.
The old, "we grow so fast" still exists though, just ask Elder Holland. It's the church's biggest problem. It's easy enough to sneak in there from time to time.

Without Eagle Scouts to become Mormon Missionaries, the proselyting will come to a complete stand still.
